Note to parents:
This week we are carrying on our measures work and looking at weight.
By the end of the week:
Year 1s need to be using the language 'heavy, light, heavier than, lighter than'
Year 2s need to know that mass is measured in g/kg, be able to measure weight using scales and to compare and order weights.
Today the children will be thinking about measuring mass using non-standard measurements (e.g. cupfuls or spoonfuls). Encourage them to do this as independently as possible.
If you are unable to make playdough, there is a superhero worksheet the children can complete to get them thinking about measuring weight.
