I have been involved with education for many years. After graduating from the University in Hull I did my Masters degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Calgary in Canada and then, on my return to the UK, I worked in an assessment centre for children with autism near Ravenshead. Although these roles were really interesting, I could see the real difference teachers could make to children's lives through quality teaching so I studied for my PGCE in Derby. My first teaching job was in a primary school in Radford, Nottingham. We then moved to Milford in 2007 and both of my children joined Milford Pre-School at the age of 2 and continued up through Milford School. From the start, I really liked the friendly vibe of Milford School and how passionately the teachers cared about the children in their classes, along with the excellent education they gave. I joined the Governing Body as a Co-opted Governor when my son was in Year 1. Time has flown by and they are both in secondary school now! When the previous Chair of the Governing Body left, I became Co-Chair with Pat Royal. Being a governor is a really interesting and rewarding role and gives me the opportunity to really know and support the school on its ongoing journey to excellence.
