I became a governor at Milford Primary School in April 2016. I retired in December 2014 and moved to Derbyshire. I had a career in the Probation Service, latterly in senior management. I wanted to continue doing something interesting with my time and volunteering as a governor was an attractive option. I had initially trained as a teacher in the early 1970s and taught for 4 years in a secondary school before retraining as a probation officer. I have found being a governor an enjoyable and sometimes challenging experience, never dull. I became co-chair of the governors, with Ruth Baker almost 3 years ago and feel proud to be supporting the school on its continuing journey to provide all the children with an excellent and well rounded education.
